ROWES WHARF

Built in 1987 and located on Boston's Water Front over what was was an 18th Century Wharf; Rowes Wharf now houses a Hotel/Condominium Complex. This condominium, slightly less than 1000 sq. ft., had not been updated since the original construction and was divided into separate segregated rooms of varying sizes creating a claustrophobic and confusing set of spaces .  The new plan, although limited by the location of existing plumbing and HVAC infrastructure, begins with the largest possible spatial gesture and accommodates the smaller components of the program (Kitchen, 1/2 bath, Master-bath) in a band of walnut cabinetry. The single division of the larger space, a wall separating the bedroom from living and dining, is a free standing plane containing two floor to ceiling sliding doors.
